Job summary:
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, the School of Professional Studies is the newest school from Wake Forest University. SPS houses innovative graduate degree and non-degree programs, including certificates and other credentials, for working professionals.

Working with minimal supervision, the person in this role will assist the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration in a variety of areas related to financial management, administrative operations, special projects and strategic initiatives for the School of Professional Studies

Essential functions:
• Develops and provides financial information, support and analyses through financial management reporting for the School of Professional Studies
• Contributes to the planning, development, enhancement, and implementation of initiatives related to SPS’ operations; collaborates with campus offices to ensure consistency of processes within the University
• Manages processes (i.e. hiring, onboarding, salary/payroll administration, etc.) related to Human Resources and operations
• Leads, maintains and audits human resources and financial-related reporting and records
• Provides position descriptions and business-related information to University HR in order to conduct job evaluations, market pricing, and survey responses for SPS staff
• Manages relevant technology such as the applicant tracking system, onboarding system, performance management system, web-based forms, and web content
• Assists with gathering and organizing departmental and other financial information during the annual budget process, external audits, etc
• Provides regular and ad hoc analyses; conducts research and analysis for special projects
• Performs other related duties and miscellaneous projects, as assigned

Education, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Required
• Bachelor’s degree plus 4-7 years of related experience or equivalent combination education and experience
• Strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills; critical thinking skills with attention to detail
• General understanding and working knowledge of standard accounting principles
• Ability to interpret financial reports, analyze data & trends, and develop recommendations
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
• Ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural questions without the benefit of precedent; make recommendations to higher management in a coherent manner with supporting arguments
• Ability to work independently, with evidence of good judgment and high-level problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Excel (template development, pivot tables, macros) and Access (creating queries and reports)
• Knowledge of University systems, as well as Human Resources, Budget and Financial Planning practices, policies, and procedures, or ability to acquire knowledge in a short period of time
Preferred
• Prior experience in Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources in higher education
• Knowledge of Workday Finance and HCM
